Texas Caregivers for Compromise is sharing short videos of our experiences and how the changes in Texas regulations, statute, and our constitution have made a difference in our loved ones lives OR WOULD HAVE had those changes only been made in time. These videos are in support of newly filed H.R.8331 by Congressional U.S. Representative John B. Larson (D-CT), and U.S. Representative Claudia Tenney (R-NY) and S.4280, the companion bill filed the the Senate by U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX).
Stephanie Kirby's son, Petre, is a young adult with the mental capacity of a small child. Throughout the isolation protocols during the 2020 lock-down, Petre was denied access to his mother EXCEPT on rare occasions like when he went to the emergency room for self-harm during a behavior episode. He is incapable of understanding virtual technology and lost trust in the mother that, as Stephanie says, "disappeared off the face of the earth". She is still working to this day to restore that trust that was lost four years ago.
We hope our legislators will see these clips but it is critical that our community of constituents encourage Congress to support this important legislation to prevent forced isolation in the future and the devastating effects of those protocols.
We are Texas Caregivers for Compromise and we are #notgoingaway.
